Basic Bloodstain Pattern Analysis

A course of instruction designed for investigators, crime scene technicians, forensic technicians, and others involved in criminal and medical-legal investigations and crime scene analysis. The course is intended to develop a fundamental knowledge of the discipline of bloodstain pattern analysis. The course will illustrate to the student, basic principals of bloodstain pattern analysis and the practical application of the discipline to actual casework. The course syllabus is not intended to create an instant expert.

Basic BPA Course Detail

Advanced Bloodstain Pattern Analysis Course

Prerequisite: An approved IABPA 40 Hour Basic Course

Purpose: A course of instruction designed for investigators, crime scene technicians, forensic technicians, and others practicing bloodstain pattern analysis. The course will enhance basic skills and develop advanced skills used in complex scenes. Additionally the student will be given an opportunity to practice their observation and analysis skills and see how to properly present their findings.

Advanced BPA Course Detail

Basic Crime Scene Reconstruction Course

Purpose: A course of instruction designed for investigators, crime scene technicians, forensic technicians, and others involved in criminal and medical-legal investigations and crime scene analysis. The course is intended to develop a fundamental knowledge of appropriate hypothesis development and testing procedures and provide an objective form of defining the events associated with a complex crime (Event Analysis). The course syllabus is not intended to create an instant expert. This course is not a crime scene processing course.

Basic CSR Course Detail

Advanced Crime Scene Reconstruction Course

Prerequisite: Approved CSR Basic Course

Purpose:  A course of instruction designed for investigators, crime scene technicians, forensic technicians, and others practicing crime scene analysis.  The course will enhance basic skills and develop advanced skills used to analyze complex crime scenes. Additionally the student will be given an opportunity to practice their analysis skills and see how to properly present their findings at court. 

Advanced CSR Course Detail

Practical Crime Scene Processing Course

Purpose:  A course of instruction designed for newly assigned investigators, crime scene technicians, and others involved in criminal and medical-legal investigations.  The course is intended to develop a fundamental knowledge of crime scene processing technique.  The course will illustrate to the student the six basic activities of crime scene processing and the sequence of those activities.  The course concentrates on these core concepts: assessing, observing, documenting, searching and collecting, but also includes lectures on advanced techniques such as alternate light source utilization, bloodstain pattern recognition and trajectory analysis.
