Advanced Crime Scene Reconstruction Course

Prerequisite: Approved CSR Basic Course

Course Objectives. Upon completion of the course the student should:

  • Demonstrate proper use of the Event Analysis technique to define objective information about a criminal incident.
  • Understand functional methods and techniques of creating demonstrative evidence to illustrate their analysis.
  • Understand and demonstrate how to properly withstand Daubert type hearings on crime scene analysis.
  • Understand and demonstrate an ability to articulate their analysis to a jury.

Day One

0800 - 0900    Review of Event Analysis as a CSR Method

0900 - 1000 Worksheet Practical

1000 - 1130 Worksheet Practical

1300 - 1700  Event Analysis Group Practical  
   
Day Two  

0800 - 0900 Demonstrative Evidence  

0900 - 1130 Power Point Basics

1300 - 1430  Utilizing Poser

1430 - 1600  Utilizing Punch Pro

1600 - 1630 Report Writing

Day Three  

0800 - 0900 Trajectory Analysis

0900 - 1130  Group Practical Exercises
 
1230 - 1700 Group Scenarios.  Wilson Homicide

Day Four  

 0800 - 1700  Group Scenarios. Wilson Homicide continued.

Day Five  

0800 - 0900 Court Presentations.  Lecture on presenting CSR testimony, and meeting Daubert, Kuhmo and Frye standards.
 
0900 - 1000 Court Prep.   Complete reports from group scenario and prepare for moot court.
 
1000 - 1530 Moot Court.  

1530 - 1600 Moot Court Review.
